The end of another year battling hair loss

My regular readers will have noticed that I haven't been as active on here as usual over recent weeks, but that doesn't mean I am lacking things to write about - heck, I could write about the subject of hair loss for a whole decade, if time allowed me to.

The truth is, with Christmas fast approaching and me being extremely busy at work, I just haven't had the time to update you all, as I would have liked to. So, I can confirm that this will be my last post of 2016, so I guess you could call this my 'end of year review'.

With the winter season well and truly on its way, there are certain alterations that a hair loss sufferer needs to make to his/her hair care routine. As I have already mentioned in my blog, autumn season is the season of shedding. Yes, that's right, if you have noticed an increase in hair fall since the end of the summer, then don't worry, because this is a normal process of hair shedding, which should come to an end as winter fully sets in.

We are not much different to animals, in the sense they also shed fur in preparation for a 'new coat' during the colder months. The problem is, if you suffer from pattern baldness like me, there is never any real guarantee that your hair will sprout back after it has gone through the shedding process.

This is why it is essential to give your hair the very best chance of getting through the autumn period so it can flourish during the peak winter season. A few little adjustments I have made to my hair care routine this autumn have been:
  • I don't use conditioner - Hair conditioner makes the hair fine and prone to snapping/damage, therefore I completely skin using it throughout the shedding season.
  • Scalp massaging - Although more tests are needed, massaging the scalp can stimulate the growth of hair cells, therefore I make it my mission to gently massage my scalp, using pure argan oil, in order to help stimulate hair growth. I honestly couldn't tell you if this works or not, but it's definitely worth a try.
  • Diet - You really are what you eat, and this phrase also applies to your hair. Try and eat high-protein foods such as fish and eggs. We depend on good, clean protein for the development and strength of many parts of our body, and our hair also benefits hugely from it.
  • Biotin - Although I get a good daily hit of biotin from using HR23+ Hair Health Supplement, I have decided to increase my daily intake, just for the autumn season. I take biotin pills in conjunction with HR23+, and I know a lot of the biotin will go to waste, as there is only so much you body can process, I still feel it is a necessary measure to take in order to get the best out of my hair.

Year highlights?

This has only been my second year of blogging, and I have enjoyed it for the most part. I have tried some pretty cool products for my hair over the past five or six years, and although there have been some pretty terrible ones out there, I have also had the pleasure of using treatments that have given me great results.

I would say the best topical formula that you can purchase for hair loss is Minoxidil. It doesn't matter what brand you use, as long as it is minoxidil (5% for men and 2% for women). If I'm totally honest, I don't actually rate 'topical solutions' for hair loss, as I don't feel they actually work. But minoxidil would be the one I would reluctantly recommend due to it being FDA approved. The results would still be very minimal at best.

I have tried some pretty good supplements for my hair, but the best is HR23+ by a long way. I was struggling to find anything that would help slow down the rate of my hair loss until I came across HR23+. It hasn't acted as a cure for hair loss, but I can confirm that it has assisted in slowing down the rate of hair fall whilst encouraging stronger hair growth. It has also enabled me to seek more options. So, if I was to recommend a good hair health supplement, then it would be HR23+.

I guess we are all still waiting in anticipation for that out-and-out cure for hair loss, but despite the advances of science, we're still no nearer to knowing exactly when/if that day will ever come. You could sit around waiting for the ultimate hair loss cure, or you could try your best to fix the problem.

I have spent years (literally) researching and trying hair loss treatments, in the hope something would work for me. And although I know there isn't cure for male pattern baldness, I do know for certain that if I hadn't tried to stop my hair loss all those years ago, I'd have substantially less hair than I do right now.

So, another year is drawing to an end, and I still have my hair intact. I'll definitely take that. Thanks for reading my posts, and I truly wish you all a happy festive season. May next year be a prosperous and successful one for our hair!

PS - Many of you have emailed me asking to see my hairline. So, here's another picture of how my hairline currently looks...
